The vegan friendly ‘Mylk’ chocolate recipe replaces milk with organic cashews and lucuma powder. We think this gives the creamiest and most delicious milk chocolate alternative. All of Raw Halo’s bars are produced in a gluten free environment enabling those with a gluten intolerance to enjoy chocolate.

Like you, we place a lot of importance on what goes into our bodies and where our food comes from. Raw Halo always use 100% natural and organic ingredients. They avoid using refined cane sugar or artificial sweeteners, simply using a little organic coconut sugar to sweeten their chocolate naturally.

Raw Halo’s cacao is ethically sourced and fairly traded from small producers in Peru. They opt for Peruvian criolla cacao as it’s renowned for being the very best; it’s rich and fruity and leaves no bitter aftertaste, meaning they only need to add a small amount of coconut sugar to sweeten their chocolate. Using a higher cacao content and only low GI, natural sweeteners helps to avoid those nasty sugar spikes too.

In creating Raw Halo’s range of raw chocolate, they researched all of the natural alternative sweeteners that are commonly used. they chose organic coconut sugar and organic lucuma powder as their two preferred natural sweeteners due to the lower GI scores and the sweet and subtle caramel tastes they provide. Coconut sugar is naturally sweet and contains 17 amino acids. They think it’s the obvious choice as a sweetener due to it only containing 16% sucrose and has a GI score of just 35.

Raw Halo aim for their bars to contain less than 25% natural sweetener by weight, compared to traditional chocolate bars which often contain over 50% cane sugar.

Their second natural sweetener, lucuma, is an exotic fruit which originates from the Andean coastal valleys of Peru. It is a good source of beta-carotene, and contains many other vitamins and minerals such as niacin, iron, calcium, phosphorus, B vitamins and fibre.

All of Raw Halo’s products are certified organic by the Soil Association, with each of the chocolate bars proudly wearing their organic seal of approval. To produce a more natural crop, organic farmers don’t use chemicals, synthetic fertilisers, or pesticides. It’s no surprise that using only organic ingredients creates the most delicious chocolate.
